Butler Behavioral Health Services Foster Care Program Awarded Internationally Recognized Certification

After three years of piloting an innovative evidence-based foster care program designed for treating high-risk adolescents, Butler Behavioral Health Services' MainSail program has been awarded the Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC) Certification.  The distinction was announced following a review of MainSail by the Center for Research to Practice in Eugene, Oregon.

According to Kittie Weber, Ph.D. the program supervisor, "This certification places Butler Behavioral Health Services and MainSail in an elite group of international programs with rigorous results-based criteria.  We are honored to have the distinction of being the first certified MTFC program in the Midwest."

The MTFC model offers communities a cost-effective option for high-needs youth who were in the past placed in expensive and often ineffective residential institutions. According to Robert Bushorn, COO with Butler Behavioral Health Services, "Taxpayers will be impressed with the fact that independent CPA cost/benefit analysis studies found a savings of about $9 dollars for every public dollar spent.  It's one of those rare program models that exceeds the clinical outcomes of other residential care models and also saves public dollars."

According to Kittie Weber, PhD, Mainsail's Program Manager, "The model has also been proven to have a high efficiency rate with severely emotionally disturbed children, as well as children whose lives have been greatly disrupted."

Anyone interested in more information on MainSail MTFC or in becoming a Certified Adolescent Coach can call Butler Behavioral Health Services at 513-896-7887.
