The goal is to prevent hospitalization or out-of-home placement by building on the strengths and resources of both the child and parent in both community, home and school settings.
  • The Outpatient Counseling (office based) and Home Based Therapy services use evidence-based models to help eliminate or manage symptoms so the client/family can increase well-being, healing and improve functioning.

  • Harbor House Social Club engages/assists adults in social, recreational and educational activities.

  • Both the Consultation & Crisis Intervention (CCI) team and the Mobile Response and Stabilzation Service (MRSS) provide Crisis Intervention in the home and community with adults, familes and children to de-escalate crises and develop/implement a plan for stability.

Internship Testimonials

  • My internship at Butler Behavioral Health has been nothing short of helpful, educational, and enjoyable preparing me for a career in the field. The staff has been kind and supportive through every aspect of my time here and have pushed me to improve my own set of skills as well as teaching me so much more than I could have ever imagined. The work feels meaningful and important, and the day-to-day work is always exciting and educational in helping shape how I will perform in my career going forward. I cannot think of a better organization to have my internship at and can recommend anyone to pursue an internship at Butler Behavioral Health.

  • Internship with Butler Behavioral gave me exposure to a wide range of practical in-the-field experiences. Supervision was top-notch. I had the guidance and support to take the basics I learned in the academic setting and apply them to grow my counseling and case conceptualization skills. For busy interns, the schedule flexibility really can’t be matched. Every BBH staff member understood I had competing priorities and provided the support to help me learn and grow.

  • I’m so thankful that I completed my practicum and internship with Butler Behavioral Health Services in the community-based Wings program. From start to finish, I was fully supported by my supervisor, department, and other interns. I felt that being fully supported allowed me the opportunity to feel completely comfortable as I ventured into spreading my wings to fly. Prior to seeing my first client I was offered plenty of opportunities to shadow my work colleagues and feel comfortable in my ability to start working with clients on my own. When I had questions, I had a great team that welcomed my questions and allowed me the ability to grow.

The experience that I received while completing my practicum and internship with BBHS has helped me become a better social worker and also has played a role in the impact that I am able to make in the lives of the families that I work with. I am grateful to have completed my internship with BBHS and will now continue to serve the community I work in as an employee of BBHS. I would highly recommend BBHS to students seeking a wonderful internship site and the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge and professional development.
